WDC Annual Report of Academic Year 2014-15

As per the guidelines of the Vice-Chancellor of University of Mumbai, the College has introduced a Women’s Development Cell in the academic year 2014-15. The main objective of the cell is to look into the grievances of the women, both staff members (teaching and nonteaching) as well as students and provide guidance and help to them.

The Women’s Development Cell is most socially inclined student-teacher associations.

The Cell has been in force under the guidance and encouragement of Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Snehal Donde since the very beginning. The WDC is an active student – oriented cell that revolves around the upliftment of women. It is not only run by female members, but also includes a considerable number of male members who play a key role in the core committee, events, planning and functioning of the cell. WDC has organized various programs throughout the year. Here we have given the summary for the program organized in our college in the academic year 2014-15.

A Women’s Development Cell was established in the premises of Wada College of Management & Science, in the academic year 2014 – 2015. The first program we conducted on 15 Dec, 2014 All the teaching staff and non-teaching staff, Students and all the members of WDC were present for the program. Topic for the discussion was “ Sexual Harassment” The “Aims & Objective” to arrange this program in this college, of the “Women’s Development Cell” is to create awareness among the girls and the women staff, apart from maintaining congenial working environment for all the women employees and students. To prevent sexual harassment and to promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non teaching women staff of the College. The Chairman, Mr. Yogesh Gandhe, addressed the gathering and emphasized the role of a woman in the society. The “Hand that rocks the cradles rules the world” was the main point of emphasis. Mr. Ashish Shinde also added that apart from becoming aware of the legal, medical and social rights, and duties towards oneself and the society as whole. Miss Ranjeeta Singh agreed regarding the need for spreading awareness. Dr. Mrs. Snehal Donde Principal of Wada College of Management & Science continued the program about, on the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace. She defined sexual harassment as unwelcome sexually determined behaviour. All students was very much convinced with the fact shared with them.

On 3 Jan, 2015 we celebrated as savitribai Phule Birth Centenary. Mrs. Savitribai Jyotirao Phule (3 January 1831 – 10 March 1897) was an Indian social reformer and poet. Along with her husband, Jyotirao Phule, she played an important role in improving women’s rights in India during British rule. The couple founded the first women’s school at Bhide Wadai in Pune in 1848. All the present students and everyone responded very well for today’s Occasion and was become aware of the great work of Mrs. Savitribai Phule for all women and for our humanity. All attempts were made during the year for the women empowerment & gender discrimination.
